Gateway Arts Concerts Website

This website will help you find out more about our monthly concerts held at the Gateway in Shrewsbury. The concerts are arranged by Shrewsbury and District Arts Association (SADAA) and its aim is to help promote and support local musicians as well as arranging professional musicians to perform.

Monthly Music Recitals

The musical recitals are usually held on a lunchtime with occasional special concerts arranged in evenings and on Sundays. The Gateway has excellent facilities for hosting music recitals including a Steinway concert grand piano, plenty of chairs and seating and an in-house coffee shop where guests are encouraged to stay on after concerts and have lunch with the performers.

Concert Prices

Prices for Lunchtime concerts are £4 on the door, Friends of Gateway arts are £3 , srudents £2.00 and children and carers with disabled can attend for free. Evenings £7.50 Concessions(students and unwaged) £6.00

A prize-winner of both national and international competitions, the Czech-German pianist Béla Hartmann has established a reputation for lively and individual interpretations of a wide repertoire, ranging from Rameau to Luciano Berio. Schubert, Mozart and Beethoven form the core of this extensive range, and he was both prize-winner in the International Schubert Competition, Dortmund (1997), and winner of the Beethoven Medal of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe (1995). In 2000, he was a semi-finalist at the Leeds International Piano Competition.
